Memorial Day

"War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself."
- John Stuart Mill

"It is foolish and wrong to mourn the men who died. Rather we should thank God that such men lived."
- George S. Patton

My sincere appreciation goes out, most especially today, to:
- Those with the valor and courage to put on the uniform in defence of my way of life.
- Those who never came home.
- Those who did, but were never the same.
- My Grandfather, who was gassed in World War II by the enemy in the Aleutian Islands.
- My other Grandfather, also a Patriot, who also served in WW II, and was later awarded the CMH.
- My father, who was drafted during Viet Nam, and who had the courage to serve -- only to return and be told he was a baby killer because persecuting soldiers was the 'cool thing' to do.
- My cousin, killed in Panama in the 101st.
- My buddy Toby, out serving in 'the Stan.
- And countless others...

God bless our troops.
